Celebrate Public Life Privacy Policy

The Celebrate Public Life website (henceforth referred to as the “Service”) is a web-based service created by Gehl Architects Finance & Communication ApS (henceforth referred to as “Our Company”) in collaboration with Bernard van Leer Foundation.

By using the Service, individuals (henceforth referred to as “the User“) might be able to access features such as contributing to a crowd-sourced map, which aims to collect data (such as text, images and location) on public spaces and public life, read about work from Gehl and Bernard van Leer Foundation and nominate people as 'Public Life Champions'.

At Our Company data protection and confidentiality is a high priority. This privacy policy will explain how Our Company processes the personal data we collect from you when you use our Service.

This Privacy Policy is set out to comply with Regulation (EU) 2016/679 on the protection of natural persons with regard to the processing of personal data and on the free movement of such data (GDPR).

What data do we process, why and how?

We collect your data and process data when you:

  • Register with a User Profile when using Our Service
    The processing of your data when registering as a user is necessary for using the Service, cf. GDPR art. 6(1)b).
  • Add a Favorite Place or Image of Public Life to the crowd-sourced map
    The processing of your data when contributing to the crowd-map is voluntary and based on your consent, cf. GDPR art. 6(1)(a).
  • Nominate a person as a Public Life Champion
    The processing of your data when nominating a Public Life Champion is voluntary and based on your consent, cf. GDPR art. 6(1)(a).

Information you provide to us
We may collect your e-mail address when you register as a user of the Service.
We may collect any information you submit as a process of contributing to the crowd-map or nominating a person for Public Life Champion.

Information we ask for, but not store
When you use the Service to Explore the crowd-map, Add a Favorite Place or Image of Public Life, we might prompt you for Location access, in order to increase usability. This information will not be collected or stored in any way by us.

How will we use your data?

Our Company processes your data so that we can:

  • Register you as a customer and manage your account.
  • Provide our Services
  • Run, maintain and develop the Service
  • Answer questions from the Users and solve possible issues in relation to the Service
  • Comply with current legislation

Our Company does not transfer your personal data to a third party without your consent. Under specific circumstances and with reference to legislation, it might be necessary to transfer information to public authorities.

How do we store your data?

Our Company securely stores your data in data centers within the EU, which is compliant to GDPR.

Our Service operates using Heroku who deliver the app platform on behalf of Our Company. Heroku only process personal data on behalf of Our Company and in accordance with the specific instruction of Our Company.

Your personal data will not be transferred to third countries outside the EU or the EEA.

When will we delete your data?

Our Company will delete or anonymize your personal data when you de-register as a user of the Service. This will take place as soon as possible and no later than 6 months after de-registration.

What are your data protection rights?

Our Company would like to make sure you are fully aware of all of your data protection rights. Every user is entitled to the following:

The right to access – You have the right to request Our Company for copies of your personal data. We may charge you a small fee for this service.
